My life at 3 weeks old...
I am now 3 weeks old and life is still pretty busy. Mom had her gall bladder surgery 2 weeks ago and everything went really well. She was back on her feet the next day. Last week, I got to go to school with mom and everyone thought I was pretty cute. :) I met all of her really nice professors in the education department at Augsburg and many of her classmates. I have been pretty grumpy the last couple of days because I have reflux. Mom had to take to the doctor on Thursday after I kept her up all night crying and wanting to be held. I spit up after every meal and it has irritated my esophagus so I don't feel very well. The doctor said I will grow out of it, but until then, I have to take Zantac. It doesn't taste very good, so I have figured out how to spit it out after daddy tries to shoot it down my throat. Life will be busy for awhile because mom graduates from college next weekend and then I get to go to Iowa for the first time the next week for my Great Uncle Lonny's wedding. I will be there for a week to meet lots of mommy and daddy's family and friends. Then, my aunt Lyssa graduates! I will be very busy, but I am sure my mom has lots of cute outfits to dress me in for these special events and I am sure she will post pictures for you all to see! Love, McKinzie

I LOVE MY DADDY!

Hanging out with mom

What was supposed to be my first trip to the ball park to watch daddy umpire, ended up being an afternoon of sleeping in the car as it decided to rain on us! Thank goodness mom never forgets to take her camera anywhere!

Mom and Grandma thought it would be fun to try on some of my cute little outfits on me today... however... I did not find this to be very fun. I humored them with a smile or too, but I was not overly thrilled about this. By outfit, 3 or 4, I had enough and I let them know. Enjoy the pictures of my fun-filled day! Love, McKinzie

Sorry for the delay in pictures and update but our internet has been down since Thursday, but we are finally back online and life has been busy since then! Thursday night, McKinzie spent the night at Children's Hospital because she gave us a scare Thursday morning. She turned blue on us while she was sleeping Thursday morning. Luckily, I was laying there with her just watching her and was able to pat her on her back on she jolted awake, but she had trouble eating the rest of the day so the doctors wanted to observe her overnight. She was on oxygen monitors overnight and she had no more issues. They thought maybe she had sleep apnea, but everything seemed to be ok. They think she possibly got swallowing and breathing confused because she had just finished eating. They said it's not uncommon for babies to do that and they often correct themselves and it doesn't happen again. Thank God everything is ok.

McKinzie is back to normal again and eating like a champ. She just reached the 8 lb mark which is pretty incredible since when we left the hospital one week ago, she was only 7 lb 1 oz. I am having my gall bladder removed tomorrow and dad goes back to work on Tuesday so life will continue to be a little crazy for awhile. Happy Sunday!

My first trip to the bowling alley... Check out my baseball hat! Aren't I cute?
Today was an eventful fourth day for McKinzie. She went to the doctor to check her weight and see if she might have a little bit of jaundice. McKinzie weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz today which is a whole 2 ounce improvement from when we left the hospital. The doctor was impressed. She has a very very slight case of jaundice but the doctor said it should be gone by the end of the week and they aren't even going to check her again unless she would get worse. Then McKinzie came home to play with Grandpa and Grandma Smith while mom went to the doctor.
Mom went to the doctor and has set up a surgery consultation for tomorrow at 2:00 to have her gall bladder removed. After doctors and lunch with Grandpa and Grandma Smith, it was off to the airport to say good-bye to Grandpa and Grandma. McKinzie is going to miss them but we will send them pictures to show how I've grown. Now it's nap time for mom, dad and McKinzie but we thought we'd show some pictures of how I've grown the past couple of days! Mom isn't near as good as updating this blog as dad, but it will do! Happy Tuesday!

WOW! What a day! My baby girl McKinzie is now officially 24+ hours old. She truly is a miracle to Ash and I both.

Just a little on how our day has gone. Baby fed last night at 11:45pm and slept most of the rest of the night. She was woken up around 4:30am to come in and feed again. She fed at 4:30, 6:45 and again at 8am. After all this, my little girl was tuckered. She couldn't be any more healthy then what she is. When McKinzie was out like a light early this morning, I finally had a chance to excerise the couch/roll-a-way bed butt. I actually got out of here for a little more than an hour to go up and sulk over not bowling a tournament today....Luke, glad I didn't!

After coming back, both grandparents came to see their new little miracle. Grandpa Passick arrived for the first look at his precious first grandbaby girl. Grandpa Passick and Grandpa Smith, you both ready to coach softball for your granddaughter McKinzie???

After all grandparents had their chances to see McKinzie turn 1 day old, we had visitors from Ashley's old job of Nannying as the Schwanke's stopped by to see the baby. After they left and the grandparents had left for the night, we had the opportunity to play host to some friends of ours from Country Club Lanes (Lisa, Kim and Luke thank you!). It was a treat that Ash and I have been looking for all weekend as the hospital can be a lonely place with the only people you see are nurses and doctors.

Anyways, it is now approaching 10pm and everyone is exhausted from a very long, long day. McKinzie is getting her nightly feeding and I got to get my jammi's on so I can get used to another night on another cold, cold floor.

Goodnight all!
